On The Flame Behavior during Cable Insulation Material Ignited by Fault Arc: A Flame Extracting and Noise Reduction Algorithm

The electric fault arc, particularly the series leads to plenty of electrical fire. limitations t previous studies include: (1) most existing research focused on gaseous atmospheres rather than solids materials, which is contrary actual demand; and (2) studied external heat sources were restricted cone heaters flames, while arc was seldom studied. To overcome these limitations, we developed an experimental platform investigate flame behavior when cable insulation material ignited by arc. We proposed a flame-extracting noise-reduction algorithm process enormous number photos shot high-speed camera. main obtained findings were: appropriate size structuring element plays essential role in filtering region photos, too small resulted wrong recognition incandescent particles, large made jagged distortion; mean area increased as system load grew; (3) became more prominent, appeared frequently specific locations increased. in-depth understanding provided this work will help optimize design systems disaster prevention reduction.
